Frank Ocean's 'Endless' Concept Was Unknowingly Revealed Months Ago

This past weekend Frank Ocean finally gifted to the world not one but two albums: Endless and Blonde. The former, a visual album, clocks in at over 45 minutes and features the enigmatic artist building a wooden structure resembling a staircase in an empty warehouse. The latter is an hour long exploration of sounds and textures, with the singer-songwriter redefining himself and creating a work of art that is a challenging but rewarding listen.

What initially started all of this off was the Endless live stream, which had no name when it first sprung up on Ocean's website. There were no details, the visuals showing Frank woodworking while instrumentals played on loop sporadically in the background. Up until now the Internet couldn't help but ponder what the live stream was for (we even had our own theories on the live stream), leading to a bunch of frustrated fans wondering if we were ever actually going to get a new Frank Ocean album.

The secrecy surrounding Ocean's recently released projects seemed tightly sealed, but it turns out that someone knew about it months in advance — whether they were actually aware of it or not.

Back in March of this year Twitter user Mishi (@mishkwan) revealed to her followers that while she was at a bar, a guy approached her and told her that he was teaching Frank how to build a staircase for "a music video."

The guy even added that he had signed a non-disclosure agreement (way to violate that contract dude) about the project, but for obvious reasons Mishi wasn't fazed. "Thanks for breaking your contract to try to impress me. It didn't work but it's some nice Twitter material dude," she said in a subsequent tweet. Mishi has since put her account on private following the recirculation of those tweets, but the main one can be seen below.

People will sometimes make up the strangest stories just to impress us, but in the case of this guy he was actually telling the truth. Too bad most of us were still recovering from an alleged July 2015 release date for Ocean's album (that was still tentatively titled Boys Don't Cry at the time), that we probably wouldn't have believed him anyway.
