I saw Flying Lotus play at a brainfeeder session just a few weeks back and his set was the most enjoyable of the night–the best balance of heady and surprising but still danceable. Yet its hard for any one man twiddling knobs and cueing tracks on a laptop to match up to a cinematic experience like this Until The Quiet Comes short film–or even the lightshow you’d get by closing your eyes and listening to the album of the same name in your headphones. But luckily FlyLo appears to be dancing his way right out through those constrictions, tapping a couple members of the Brainfeeder crew (Strangeloop and Timeboy) to create something he calls Layer 3–a lightshow of cosmic, 2001: A Space Odyssey proportions unfolding on two transparent scrims with FlyLo right in the middle of the psychedelic samwich. What follows is a multidimensional mini-documentary on the show which reveals the magic trick, without in anyway ruining the magic…coming soon to a brain-diner near you. Watch below and purchase Until The Quiet Comes via iTunes.
