Flying Lotus Casts Hannibal Buress, Donnell Rawlings In New Film 'Kuso'

Afropunk 2016: George Clinton, Flying Lotus, More Deliver On Day 1

Flying Lotus has expanded his cast for Kuso a little bit.

The producer, rapper and now filmmaker took to Twitter today to announce that Hannibal Buress, Tim Heidecker (of Tim & Eric fame) and Donnell Rawlings (a regular on Chappelle Show) are now a part of the forthcoming film.

FlyLo is still trying to get Elijah Wood and Craig Robinson to be a part the movie. But considering he now has Buress, Heidecker and Rawlings, along with George Clinton, Anders Holm (of Workaholics fame) and comedian Byron Bowers, the lineup is already promising.

The Brainfeeder mastermind has said that "The idea behind Kuso is a simple one. It's pretty much everything I'm afraid of." The movie is set to feature new music from Captain Murphy (FlyLo's rap alter ego), Aphex Twin, Thundercat and Akira Yamoaka.

Kuso serves as the full version to FlyLo's short Royal, which premiered earlier this year at Sundance NEXT Fest in Downtown Los Angeles. The screening of the film came with a vomit bag for everyone in attendance. Tomorrow, Royal makes its premiere in the UK, at London's Regent Street Cinema.

Kuso plays into FlyLo launching Brainfeeder Films earlier this year alongside filmmaker Eddie Alcazar. Brainfeeder Films will be an independent film finance and production outfit, that will focus on producing "traditional and nontraditional entertainment" and commercial content for global audiences.

"I've always wanted Brainfeeder to be a home for emerging artists, creative talent, and filmmakers who are looking to work outside the traditional studio and independent distribution systems," FlyLo said in an interview with Variety.

Aside from Kuso Brainfeeder Films will also be the home to projects from filmmakers David Firth (Salad Fingers) and Dominic Hailstone. Firth completed the short Cream, which Brainfeeder produced. The film concerns a genius inventor who reveals his latest product: a revolutionary cream that has the power to fix all of the world’s problems.

Here's to hoping FlyLo gets Wood and Robinson for Kuso.
