Jakarta Ivan Ave FloFilz Shinethru Art Square
On his personal SoundCloud page, Aachen-based producer FloFilz self identifies as "jazz sample based oldschool shit from Germany," and by all accounts, the man is sticking to that gameplan. On his new single "Shinethru," Flofilz taps Norwegian MC Ivan Ave to deliver an absolutely gorgeous single, built of a looping jazz guitar line, tight synth bass and dry drums. If you're the type to dig for hours on sites like 8tracks, looking for dusty obscure jazz-hop, this is going to sound like something out of a dream.
Ivan Ave sounds as if he's at the top of his game on this one, rapping with growing intensity about a certain love that's taken him by sudden surprise. "Never uttered the word couple / Onto the daytrips into each others' bubbles," he rhymes, delivering a faded polaroid view of temporary, honest love. It's just an absolutely gorgeous piece of work. The track will appear on FloFilz upcoming record Speakthru, which arrives December 4th on Jakarta Records.
