We’re still reeling from the Grammy Awards where The Roots and John Legend won for three 3 statues, but we are also still completely gassed by Esperanza Spalding, who won for Best New Artist of The Year, beating out favorites like the Biebs (sorry, kiddies), Drake, and Florence + The Machine (who’s album is amazing, get that). It was 3 years ago that Esperanza was the new kid on the block at The 1st Annual Roots Picnic and her incredible talent blew us all away. The above video was originally hosted on the now defunct iMeem.com, so I pulled out the drives to revive it just for the occasion. And speaking of revive, check out these two articles on our Revivalist channel, “Esperanza Who? A Beginner’s Guide” and “The Potential of The Bieber Upset.”

Amazing.
she’s amazing. the grammys did something right. unprecedentedly and unexpectedly right.
I actually checked some of her music out after she won and I really like it!
And just in case you didn’t know Raphael Saadiq’s new album ‘Stone Rollin’ will be in stores May 10th, check out his first single “Good Man” http://vevo.ly/iifvN8
she’s definitely talented!
I remember her from The Tipping Point jam session recordings! Man… and Ledesi was there too… long BEFORE popularity struck. True musicians let the music take them wherever it may – B.Kyle
