We break into the new year by still supporting the team over at Fat Beats and its Baker’s Dozen series. Already featuring the sounds and exclusives from Ohbliv, Dibia$e, Ras G and Wun Two — this fifth installment of the popular Baker’s Dozen instrumental series stars the one, the only Daedelus and his “Baker’s Theme”. For those just becoming familiar with the series, Dae’s “Baker’s Theme” will come with a flexi-disc for those who are interested in copping the physical, and will not be available digitally at all. There should also be an exclusive track for those who are super-quick-fast on the buy / pre-order button.
Each volume features one artist and 12-tracks, comes equipped with a 5×7″ postcard insert that features a photo of the Los Angeles-based producer’s workspace along with the equipment used in his music-making process, as well as a personal narrative of how they got into beat-making in the first place. Captivating to all five of your senses (it’s not a scratch-and-sniff record, but you’ll smell the smoke from this fiery record) — Fat Beats’ tradition of packing every key note and mention serves as a notice as to how well the company pays attention to detail. Baker’s Dozen is a worthwhile series to own in your collection, as it speaks up for an artist whose instrumentals alone make a memorable statement.
Daedelus has worked with Brainfeeder, Ninja Tune, Plug Research, Alpha Pup and his own Magical Properties imprint over the past few years. His crafted sound and ill production techniques makes him one of the finest producers that you should have heard of. Audiophiles who are already in love with Dae’s curated collection of work will be happy to slap down the buck-a-roos to own this assemblage of unreleased melodious-ness. Fat Beats, continuing in 2017 to shine a light on the best beat makers in the biz, offers another carte blanche look at an artist’s signature sound. “Of course, that’s my intention here… A collection of beat invention from my now about 16 years of plumbing into crates, purchasing pawnshop drum machines and even crafting noise makers of my own,” Daedelus said in a released statement about his work with Fat Beats and Baker’s Dozen.
Enough lip-flapping… press play and groove out with the solidly sturdy sounds of Daedulus. The project should be out in full on Feb. 10. Pre-order now!
