Eddie Palmieri Takes Us Behind The Revolution On Harlem River Drive In RBMA's 'The Note'

This past weekend saw a historic musical moment at NYC's Harlem River Park, where the eternal genius of Eddie Palmieri gathered with fellow legends (Bernard Purdie included!) to reprise his seminal 1971 album Harlem River Drive, performing the album front-to-back for a packed audience in the park.

The performance was a triumph, no doubt, fiery and funky as all hell. The second installment of Red Bull Music Academy's mini-doc series The Note, takes us behind the revolutionary minds of the musicians that brought the album to life, including Palmieri, Purdie and various students of the latin soul pioneer, delving into the unrest of life in Harlem in the early-seventies and how it took musicians and activism on the part of The Young Lords to speak truth to power and inspire a largely hispanic population to command their own destiny. It arrives as a follow-up to last week's episode, which charted the mental circuitry and wiring of NYC sound system guru, Alex Rosner. Watch the latest episode of RBMA's The Note below and hold tight for the next transmission in the days ahead.
