Eddie Murphy's Dreaming Of A Return To Stand-Up...But Only If His Music Career Takes Off

Eddie Murphy's return to comedy -- and I'm not talking about A Thousand Words or Meet Dave type ish -- could very well be a legitimate possibility and it appears we're not the only ones dreaming of genie. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, the comedic powerhouse spoke to his new found love for writing and recording reggae music, which hasn't been a total failure (unlike that pair of films I mentioned before) and mentioned that he was actually contemplating a return to the stand-up realm...but only if people get behind his musical output.

Today, he dropped another medium-at-best roots reggae joint in "Oh Jah Jah" and --like his surprisingly decent offering "Red Light" -- it's got legs. They're not the longest things, but they're certainly no sight for soar eyes, or ears in this case. Basically, if you want to see The Raw One return to form and the stage in any comedic capacity, you'll have to support his music career one way or another. Listen to that new joint and read a snippet from the interview below. Join us in hoping that he'll consider unhinging that resurgence from any sort of musical success. "You know what, if I drop one of these tracks and it jumped off, I would go out and do some shit. My fantasy I always be having when I think about getting onstage is to do everything. If I came back and did stand-up again, I can't just be like the other stand-up comics. To have a real hot band, play some tracks for about 40 minutes, the curtain drops and then you do an hour of jokes? That's a unique-ass show. [Laughs] That's the ultimate vision."
