Dr. Dre Talks 'Straight Outta Compton' Biopic, Recording "Nuthin' But A G Thang," New Music + More

Dr. Dre took to Big Boy's studio this morning to chop it up with the Real 92.3 crew on all things you care about most. The candid and wholly insightful chat commenced with a discussion of the highly-anticipated forthcoming Straight Outta Compton film treatment (on which Dre serves as executive producer) how it came to finally be and the emotional turmoil it's caused him personally in seeing those memories reenacted with such clarity on the big screen.

Seeing as how it's practically impossible to discuss the film without recalling the myriad legends that occupy the narrative, the conversation changes course a bit, narrowing in on some of The Doctor's most cherished recordings, but particularly honing in on the G-funk anthem "Nuthin' But A G Thang," how the song was being put together while Snoop Dogg was in jail and how his verse had to literally be phoned in from lock-up. They touched a bit on "The Next Episode" and working with Eminem in his most formative moments, but it wasn't all nostalgia this morning for the pioneering producer, as he claimed that work is apparently being done on new music, but we've all heard that one before (still waiting on that Detox.) He also shamelessly addresses accusations of the West Coast clique being overly misogynistic and wholly disrespectful to women, like we don't all remember that time he threw his wife down a flight of stairs. But that's a whole other piece for another day, y'all. Not even trying to get into that right now. You can watch Dr. Dre's interview with Big Boy on 92.3 down below.
