DJ Yella is one half of NWA's epic spinning tandem -- opposite Dr. Dre-- and he took the time to sit with MONTREALITY to discuss the some of the highlights of his career, as well as some of the low-points. After discussing his 12 year stint as a one-man show--shooting, editing, writing (?)-- in the porn industry after his musical career dissolved, Yella dropped some hard-hitting knowledge on us, discussing his relationship with his former group and the inability to reconcile their break-up while being the number one selling act in the country at the time.
He went on to describe how is relationships with the surviving members of the group have been maintained over the years, citing Ren as the only one who really fell off. Then he hit us with the story of his last encounter with EAZY-E before the legend passed, with the two of them allegedly bunking up in a hotel room for the first time in their careers, after attending a porn convention in Vegas.
