Pass The Popcorn: There's A Dionne Warwick Biopic In The Works

At a recent appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, all-timer (and many times Grammy-winning vocalist) Dionne Warwick dropped a bomb on the world. The legendary singer announced plans to release a biopic treatment of her life, tentatively titled Dionne. Warwick apparently has her sights on Destiny's Child's LeToya Luckett for her on-screen portrayal and pop star Lady Gaga in the running to play her rival, Cilla Blackwho took a track that Burt Bacharach had written for her ("Anyone Who Had A Heart") to the top of the UK charts in 1964.

And if all goes according to plan, visionary director Melvin Van Peebles will be at the helm. The film will focus on the 1962-1968 stretch of her career, where iconic numbers like "Don't Make Me Over" and "Walk On By" cemented her legacy as one of the very best to ever do it. No production schedule or release date has been announced just yet, but as far as potential is concerned, this thing's got legs for days. Keep your eyes on us for updates on the Dionne Warwick biopic, as we keep our thumbs on the still developing story.
