Dilla Tributes from Primeridian, Robert Glasper + More

As mentioned, every day is Dilla Day ’round here, but of course yesterday’s birthday celebrations for the late, great James “J Dilla” Yancey brought tributes from some of the best in the business. Two that caught our ear came from our homies at Revivalist, who posted a series of live covers, tributes and variations on Dilla compositions from the likes of Robert Glasper, Yasiin Bey AKA Mos Def and a 40-piece orchestra taking on “Suite for Ma Dukes” under the guidance of Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. Even bigger news is this mixtape from OKP favs The Primeridian (via FSD)–who dropped an entire mixtape over rare Dilla gems, entitled What if Jay Dee Produced PCP? (A: its street name would be ‘angel donuts’). Stream or download below, enjoy Glasper’s take on “Fall In Love” above and see the other live performances at Revivalist.

I see Chicago in the background of the video! The two of them should collab on something. I heard he coming to Chi City soon. That would be MASSIVE!
