Pass The Popcorn: Watch The Riveting Trailer For David Simon's New HBO Mini-Series 'Show Me A Hero'

Over the last decadeDavid Simon has been one of the sharpest (and loudest) voices in the fight against systemic forms of oppression whether through print or screen. His legacy may very well have been solidified with the almost unanimously agreed upon best-show-ever status of The Wire and its NOLA-clad little brother Treme, but it appears Simon is far from his end as one of the most impactful writers and directors of our time. His forthcoming HBO mini-series Show Me A Hero (based on piece of non-fiction from author Lisa Belkin) will focus on a Yonkers town, where federally mandated low-income housing is being built in an ivory-white neighborhood, shining some light on the continued struggle for equality in a city as diverse as New York, when the divide was real and formidable. The six-part series taps Oscar IsaacCatherine Keener, Jon Bernthal, Jim Belushi, Alfred MolinaWinona Ryder and Crash director Paul Haggis for Simon's latest outing and the trailer is as riveting as anything you've seen this year; a welcome return from a cherished voice. Below you can watch the official trailer for David Simon's Show Me A Hero, landing Sunday, August 16th on HBO.
