Pass The Popcorn: David Lynch Almost Directed A Video For Kanye West's "Blood On The Leaves"

Writer and director David Lynch is the latest "could have been" collaborator to hitch his name to Kanye West's freight train of indecision. In a recent interview with The Daily BeastLynch revealed that his fascination with Ye's dark and twisted reverie manifested in a particular interest in "Blood On The Leaves," which led to a meeting of the two melancholic minds. Apparently, the admiration was mutual. Yeezy asked the acclaimed architect of the cult early '90s classic Twin Peaks to put together a treatment for the auto-tuned madness of the Yeezus cut.

However, it appears even one of the most heralded cinematic minds of the generation wasn't able to come up with anything to compel either of their creative muscles. Lynch explained :

"I was going to do the music video for 'Blood on the Leaves,' but it never happened. I didn’t come up with any ideas that I thought he would like. Kanye came up to the house one day. Kanye's a good guy, and a great musician. I loved the song, and that’s what brought us together, but I couldn’t come up with ideas that thrilled either one of us."

So much for a meeting of subversive minds. Lynch is but the latest ill-fated collaboration in the world of Ye, joining Jack White and whoever told West the leather jogger pant wouldn't sell. Here's to what could have been.
