The duo speak on their humble beginnings while standing on East’s aunt’s old block and standing on Sigel Street in Philadelphia. The Mass Appeal artist recently dropped Kairi Chanel—named after his one-year-old daughter—which features “The Real Is Back,” and is totally worth a few replays.
East and Sigel trade bars similar to how Styles P and Jadakiss have done for years now, while paying homage to the Broad Street Bully and the north side of Philly. “It was like I was outside with somebody that’s been my man my whole life, but it was Sigel. It was crazy,” Dave East told Noisey in an interview. The video paints the two in a mentor-mentee, teacher-student capacity, as Beans gives him jewels and Dave understands the importance of what’s being said.
“I do this for the youth in the Matrix who won’t make it / I tell ’em every knock is a boost, remain patient,” Sigel says, offering some insight to Dave East’s benefit. “I grew up on Beans,” Dave East said. “Just to be able to be in the same room. He gave me a lot of game that night. It was beautiful man. That whole thing let me know I’m still on pace to be where I need to be.
