Dave Chappelle to be joined by The Roots, Eerykah Badu, Busta Rhymes & more

The mere fact that Dave Chappelle is coming to Radio City Music Hall this summer is already news worth trumpeting from the damn rooftops. Live Nation’s confirmation of three additional shows spanning June 24th, 25th and 26th is like manna falling from the comedy heavens. But Chappelle’s team has now confirmed the fulfillment of your wildest street dreams. Those three additional shows will be Block Party-style musico-comedic extravaganzas featuring performances from The Roots (woot!); Erykah Badu (okay, player) Busta Rhymes, Janelle Monáe and DJ Premier with A Full Orchestra!

To get specific, the nightly breakdown looks something like this:

Tuesday June 24th: Dave Chappelle and The Roots.
Wednesday June 25th: Dave Chappelle, Busta Rhymes, DJ Premier, and Janelle Monae.
Thursday June 26th: Dave Chappelle and Erykah Badu

And yes, to confirm, this shit do make a buster want to jump! jump! Or as the official press release put it:

“For these shows, Chappelle will combine his greatest love, stand-up comedy with his second love, music. The connection between improvisation and timing will be on full display as Chappelle co-headlines with a special musical guest each night, including The Roots, Erykah Badu, Busta Rhymes, Janelle Monáe, DJ Premier and more to be announced. A full orchestra will enhance the concert experience.

As Chappelle approaches the 10th Anniversary of his concert movie Block Party, filmed in 2004 in Brooklyn, this run of shows at Radio City are Chappelle’s first announced NYC engagement in over 10 years”

I think they need more people in their line up. Its nowhere close to being as big an event as the 2006. Keep all the people they have now, because, come on, its Janelle Monae!! They just need mooore performers.
