It seems the West Coast will finally get a taste of the transcendent goodness NYC, Austin and half of Europe have had the honor of experiencing over the last few months, as D'Angelo & The Vanguard gear up to make their Outside Lands Festival debut. That's right, the Bay Area will get their chance to bear witness to the latest live evolutions of classics like "Brown Sugar," "Feel Like Making Love" and "One Mo' Gin." And even if the festival can't support the nearly 3-hour bomb of career-spanning performance, at the very least, they'll be treated to some choice selections from his critically immune Black Messiah LP.
The festival will commence the weekend of August 7th, and even though the precise set time has yet to be revealed, D and the funk mob will join the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Tame Impala, St. Vincent, Toro Y Moi, The Black Keys, SZA and a laundry list of others (but we know precisely where they'll all be come D's moment; front and center.) Tickets for The Outside Lands Festival go on sale tomorrow morning at 10am, so be sure to have your wallet ready to grab this highly coveted stub. May the force be with you all.
