Common x Ab-Soul- "Made In Black America" (prod. by No I.D.)

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Common comes back swinging with TDE's next-on-deck MC Ab-Soul on his latest deep-funk laden heater "Made In Black America", produced by longtime cohort and Chicago hip-hop pioneer No I.D. It's the the follow-up to last month's drop "War" and this GOOD Music/TDE collab is just as epic as it may seem. With No I.D. taking it back to Resurrection-era chops and Common (Sense) letting loose a torrent of wordplay, this one's got throwback written all over it, drawing us back to Com's roots as a socially devoted MC.

What keeps it in the now is the lyrical embellishment from Cali's own Ab-Soul, delivering a ferocious verse and holding down the west-end of this Mid-Western storm of funk and flavor. The track comes to us from Common's latest wholly No I.D. produced project No Smiling, with which he hopes to draw attention to the overwhelming violence in their hometown of Chicago and help facilitate a diplomatic and apt response to that systemic issue. Stream the latest from Common and Ab-Soul below, and if you're on the Golden Coast catch him on Power106 at 9pm tonight.
