Colin Kaepernick Connects With J. Cole During Baltimore Tour Stop
J. Cole gave a huge big-up to embattled football star, Colin Kaepernick, while onstage in Baltimore, pressuring the Ravens to sign the free agent QB.
It’s no secret that Colin Kaepernick is being jerked around by those in the NFL front offices. The activist and superstar quarterback, formerly with the San Francisco 49ers, has went to Baltimore in hopes of getting signed by the Ravens. While there, he found a likely advocate for the deal in Roc Nation MC, J. Cole.
During Cole’s “4 Your Eyez Only” tour on Sunday, Aug. 6, he shouted out Kaepernick from the stage. “Baltimore, the type of shit that’s happening here, don’t you think somebody should risk their whole livelihood and their whole life to talk about this shit?” J. Cole said to a packed arena audience. “Even if it cost them they money, they job, they life? Don’t that sound like Colin Kaepernick? Don’t that sound like what he doing? And he trying to come to Baltimore, the city that seems to need that shit for real.”
Meanwhile, the Ravens are debating back-and-forth whether or not to sign Kaepernick after recently expressing interest in him. Some are worried that the silent protest he unveiled a year ago will be a distraction to a community and organization already rife with issues.
Professional opinions aside, it makes sense to bring Colin to Baltimore, as he could do some real good for the citizens there, while shedding light to the broader masses about the injustices they face on the daily. Kaepernick understands this too, as he and Cole were photographed together with the latter wearing the athlete’s “Know Your Rights Camp” t-shirt.
