A forthcoming documentary from CNN will explore President Barack Obama's tenure as he gets ready to leave the White House.
Titled The Legacy Of Barack Obama, the two hour special will be spearheaded by CNN's Fareed Zakaria as he explore Obama's most successful and disappointing political moves, as well as examine the gridlock that impacted the 44th president's tenure.
The special will also highlight the many accomplishments Obama made during his presidency, including marriage equality for gay Americans; securing the nuclear deal with Iran; and resurrecting the global economy (all of this he managed to get while racial strife and staunch opposition). It will also address the issues he was not able to successfully get to, such as comprehensive healthcare coverage and the failure to close Guantanamo Bay.
The two hour televised event will also be used to investigate the initiatives that are under threat as Donald Trump prepares to take the presidency, with those initiatives dealing with everything from race relations and gun regulation, to the war on ISIS and closed borders.
Featured in The Legacy Of Barack Obama will be candid interviews with Obama and others in his cabinet, including senior advisors David Axelrod and Valerie Jarrett; presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin; White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel; treasury secretary Timothy Geithner; and secretary of state John Kerry, among others.
The Legacy Of Barack Obama will be premiering on December 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CNN and CNN International. The special will also be available to livestream via CNNgo's desktop and mobile apps. The special will encore on CNN in the U.S. on December 8 at 12 a.m. ET/PT.
