Ciara Returns To Form w/ New Single "Special Edition"
Last May, Ciara dropped off her sixth studio album in ten years of recording with Jackie, which graced us with the steamy ballad "Dance Like We're Making Love" and its equally sultry visual. And now, six months down the line, we're already being treated to new joints from the Texan r&b darling. Last night, Ciara dropped off not one, but two new joints in the Dr. Luke-produced pop ballad "Oh Baby" and a particularly juicy gem in "Special Edition."
The former is a nothing-special, sorta stale and generic type slow jam. But that latter, though. "Special Edition" is one of those rare moments, particularly in more commercially viable segments of the industry, where the balance is just right. Where the groove and its bubbling parts aren't too polished for one to really feel it. It's a joint that certainly bears an uncanny feel, reminiscent of R. Kelly's "Ignition (Remix)" but with a softer, warmer glow, proving that it may not be too soon to rekindle that '00s gem of chart-topping r&b. Certainly a track that could be heard as her best in damn-near a decade. You can hear Ciara's slow-burning party anthem down below.
