Christian Scott Announces 'The Centennial Trilogy' Series + "The Reckoning"
Grammy nominated musician Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah is back and he’s putting the game on notice.
One of my personal favorite jazz musicians has announced that he will be debuting a new series titled The Centennial Trilogy, which contains the first track, “The Reckoning”. All of this will serve as the roll out to the first installment of the trilogy titled, Ruler Rebel.
Detailing a new vision and sound for Christian Scott and his band, Ruler Rebel promises an audio adventure in a way listeners never heard before. Stretching the work of Trap music with West African beats and New Orleanian styles — Ruler Rebel will speak to a myriad of issues that are plaguing our communities.
From slavery via the prison industrial complex to xenophobia to gender equality to the food insecurity — The Reckoning is an amazing bit of sonic stew that adds some flavor in an otherwise bland bit of existence. With three EPs in the works, Christian Scott is getting ready to hit us with the real whammy, while evaluating the social political realities of the world using sound. Coinciding with the first annual Stretch Music Festival at Harlem Stage, The Reckoning will be the bridge as musicians from the jazz, trap and alternative rock world play for five days, culminating with concerts on Feb. 17 and 18.
Braxton Cook, The Bridge Trio, Sarah Elizabeth, Butcher Brown, Sarah Elizabeth Charles, and Matthew Stevens are also featured on the Stretch Music Festival bill.
Without any further ado, please press play on “The Reckoning” and keep an eye out for the trilogy when it becomes available soon!
