Chet Faker Flips Himself (Kind Of) On New Bonus Track "Killswitch"

Chet Faker - "Talk Is Cheap" (Kaytranada Flip)

Chet Faker has made a bonus track off of the Japanese edition of his Built on Glass LP available with the entire world; it's called "Killswitch" and features the R&B songwriter/electro-maestro repurposing lines and a few tones from his mega-hit "1998" across a more shadowy sonic frame. Wooden clicks reverberate and Faker's vocals contort as he confesses "You're everything I want to be / It scares the shit out of me." It's a song, apparently, about another person becoming such a powerful force that their presence is a kind of on/off button for life itself. Love, after all, does have the power to bring total ruin along with full reconstruction. On this one, Faker's keeping it real in every way.

"Killswitch" is the third offering in a string of renewed activity from the Australian indie star. Last month, Faker uploaded a remix of "1998" featuring California songstress Banks, and earlier this summer we were treated to "Bend," a devilishly funky number that never made it onto the final Built on Glass tracklist. Taken together, the tracks are proof that Chet's home stash is very rich indeed. Hopefully all the continuing acclaim will inspire some new music soon, but for the time being enjoy "Killswitch" below.
