DC's Own Chaz French Signs To Motown, Releases "Way Out" Single
Washington, D.C.’s own celebrated lyricist, Chaz French, was one of our first First Look Friday subjects when I took over the franchise. His honesty, his charisma and his work ethic were three things that instantly shone when I was digging into his background. Now, it is with good news to announce that the Billboard charting MC has signed a major joint label deal with ThreeSixEight and Motown Records.
“I’m happy for my label ThreeSixEight and I love my new Motown family,” Chaz expressed in a released press statement. “I’m super excited to represent the DMV. It’s not just about me, it’s about all of us.”
In addition to the wonderful news, Chaz French decided to whet audiophiles’ appetites with a new single to cement his new situation. “Way Out,” which is the first effort from his highly anticipated debut project, features Chaz getting busy with the wordplay as he faces head on his past transgressions, his present obstacles and his future successes. “Way Out” is available for your earholes below, plus you can cop it on Spotify, Apple Music and TIDAL on March 17.
For those unaware of just how ill this DMV act is, he survived homelessness, a fatal car accident and the mean streets of Washington, D.C. to persevere and become a positive force to his community and others. Delivering his art true to his nature and his experiences, Chaz has turned pain into providence and is worth supporting and listening to. Fans down in Austin for SXSW, you can check him out at the Scope Showcase today (Mar. 16) and at the ICM showcase on Mar. 18.
He will also have upcoming appearances at Broccoli City Fest in D.C. (May 6) and the Smoking Loud Festival in Miami (May 5-7). Enjoy the music below!
