Chaka Khan Delivers A Stunning Performance Of The Disco Classic "It's Raining Men" Live On Letterman

David Letterman's run as a titan of late night is quickly coming to and end. But what better way to send him off then with a disco classic, penned by his own musical sideman Paul Shaffer and sung by the incomparable Chaka Khan? Funk's Queen C, along with Shaffer and a massive ensemble, delivered a damn near perfect rendition of the cut, which has sold 6 million copies in its original Weather Girls form and topped the US Disco chart back in 1982 (that's right, there used to be a chart specifically dedicated to four-to-the-floor freakers.)

Letterman's reign over late night will come to an end on May 20th of this year, opening the door for his successor, none other than Stephen Colbert, who already wrapped up his legendary news satire Colbert Report late last year with an unforgettable performance from Kendrick Lamar, Anna Wise, Thundercat, Terrace Martin and Bilal. And while we already know nothing of that sort will take place in the closing moments of Letterman's show, we can at least say we had the opportunity to see one of soul & funk's greats repurpose a time-honored dance floor anthem. Watch Chaka Khan soar on "It's Raining Men" below.
