Buckshot Shines Light On "Don't Front" Collaboration With Eminem

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

Buckshot took the time to open up on MTV News, casually waxing about his recent collaboration with Eminem on "Don't Front", a bonus cut from The Marshall Mathers LP 2 that reworks Black Moon's "I Got Cha Opin". Being a founding member of the seminal BK group, Buck was both honored to be part of the process and proud that the track stayed so true to the original. The gritty jazzed-up instrumental provides the perfect space for the verbal gymnastics Em brings to this and every other track of his recently released follow up to the critically acclaimed Marshall Mathers LP.

In the interview, Buck talks about how he came to hear about Em's effort to revive the anthemic Duck Down Records banger, explaining that it was his co-founder Dru-Ha that got word through the grapevine of Em's interest to bring Buck to Detroit to work on the hook for the now 20 year old classic. The product is the perfect paying of dues to the BK institution Buck founded. Buckshot also had the opportunity to clear up any notion of regret when he had the opportunity to sign Eminem all those years ago, for which there's clearly no resentment on either end. The collaboration in itself should speak to that. You can catch Buckshot's interview below, but be sure to cop a listen to The Marshall Mather LP 2 and the dynamite "Don't Front" collaboration if you want to see the mad Detroit rapper in true throwback form.
