The Black Opera picks up where Yasiin Bey's "New World Water" left off with the new single "No Water" from their forthcoming The Great Year LP, dropping September 30th via Mello Music Group. The track produced by Jansport J finds water - one of life's greatest necessities - taking the place of ice as the new physical marker of wealth and excess for rappers. Hoarding water has become the new wave of stunting in a game of the haves and have nots that could ultimately have much higher stakes. The Black Opera discusses the root of the track from their upcoming project:
Message from The Black Opera:Imagine a world where water is the most valuable commodity, even more valued than oil or gold. What would happen if water became so scarce that it caused World Wars? "No Water" puts a spin on this idea & takes a satirical look at water through the lens of an excessive rap culture where splurging on water is the new wave.
The track recently arrived alongside a handful of tour dates for The Black Opera's upcoming shows with Jaded Inc. aka Mayer Hawthorne and 14KT.
