LargeUp Premiere: Black Chiney - "Bad Man"

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

"Bad Man"--the newest instrumental track from Black Chiney Soundsystem is yet more proof of the Miami-based crew's versatility (you may remember the Bob Marley-meets-808s sound of "Jah Movement"). This time out the riddim demonstrates the impact of trap, dubstep and the whole online beathead scene (your Clams Casinos, your Gaslamp Killers) on their dancehall hybrid attack. LargeUp has the story--and the World Premiere! Read on:

Though his roots are as a dancehall selector, Black Chiney producer Supa Dups has never let genre limits dictate his direction as a producer: He’s produced hits spanning hip-hop, R&B, pop and reggae. His latest instrumental showcases his diversity even further, with an excursion into dubstep by way of the trap. On “Bad Man,” 808 snares and bass drops clash with screeching dubstep synths and yardie ad libs (“Badman!,” “Bumboclaat!,” etc.) - Jesse Serwer
