BJ The Chicago Kid Honors Usher With A Tribute To "Confessions"
Grammy nominated, friend-to-the-site, BJ The Chicago Kid has been one of our favorites for years. His soulful sounds, his homages to R&B legends like Marvin Gaye and D’Angelo, have made him a force to be reckoned with. Now, to pay tribute to the anniversary of Usher‘s Confessions (Mar. 23, 2004), BJ covers some of the biggest tracks from the ATLien’s monumental album.
Check the statistics if you don’t believe the claim that Confessions is one of the all-time great R&B albums: three Grammy Awards, 10 million records sold and six singles that still would get play in the clubs to this day. On the anniversary effort, BJ reinvigorates “Superstar,” “Can U Handle It,” and “Simple Things” with his signature bare-chested, ruggedly stripped soulful singing.
Little known fact: BJ The Chicago Kid was one of Usher’s background vocalists back in the day.
