The Big Mean Sound Machine Gets Nice On "Seeing The Bigger Picture" Video
Has there been no point in human history when things weren’t as fucked up as they are now? Well, maybe around the Renaissance, but I digress… Things in the world today are more wild than ever: climate change, racism, brutality, injustice, lack of empathy and Trump. These things and others have made it hard for positivity to eek through when it is needed most.
Enter: Big Mean Sound Machine.
Coming through on their locomotive of love, spreading positivity through communal dance and music that encourages rays of sunshine from people of all ages and backgrounds. This 10-piece band, who will be heading out on tour next month, is getting those sweet, irie sounds directly to us with a new video for “Seeing The Bigger Picture” from their fourth full-length studio album.
Titled Runnin’ for the Ghost, Big Mean harnesses their collective creativity and imagination to arrange + produce a beautiful, yet eclectic sound meant for lovers of good music. Packed with flavorful sounds, West African Highlife textures and fast moving guitar sounds — Big Mean Sound Machine look to get a nice start on the year with “Seeing The Bigger Picture,” which will coincide with the album’s release and subsequent tour.
“The video for ‘Seeing The Bigger Picture’ sets performance footage of the Afrofunk powerhouse against a highly stylized and visually stunning story following an animated figure, a representation of the listener, as she moves and interacts with the dense layers of music in a dramatic arc,” the band said to us in a released statement. “The band’s first ever music video captures their ability to fuse old and new school ideas and creates a visual ride to accompany Big Mean’s triumphant new release.”
So, without any further ado, check out director Jay Brown’s video for “Seeing The Bigger Picture” below, and circle your calendar for when the band comes to your town to perform.
