I don't know about the rest of you, but when I think about the luke-warm year in music that was 2011, one record alone saved me. Dutch do-it-all Benny Sings dropped his fourth studio album ART that year and it basically held me over in my My Twisted Dark Beautiful Fantasy recoup; a light, yet deceptively intricate yacht-styled r&b chaser. And while there's been little in the way of new music from Benny over the years since, it appears the kid is back with a new record in the works and a slick new single to boot.
"You And Me" finds Benny connecting with Soulection's champion MC/vocalist GoldLink for a hearty stew of smokey r&b elements, backed by a hard-knocking kit and velvet key work. Both Benny and the DMV dynamo grace the cut with some silky vocals, making this a nice little dose of intercontinental funksmanship for your minds.
