Get familiar with the name, Bambu, if you haven’t been already, America.
The Filipino-American MC has already dropped five albums talking about everything from gang violence to sexism to consumerism to community organizing. Now, on the heels of letting go his latest album, Prey For The Devil, Bambu is hoping to educate a wider swath of audiophiles in his Filmonita-directed video, “Prey’er,” which you can press play on below.
Prey For The Devil is a 10-track project promoted and put out by Bambu and the Beatrock Music Crew. In the video, Bambu continues his challenge to authority and the political corruption going on in our country by exposing a light upon the dark world of police brutality, white supremacy and systematically targeting POCs for death. Shot on location in the Philippines, the track features a brief intro from Run The Jewels compatriot, Killer Mike, who urges Bam to talk shit for “black people, brown people, yellow people, beige people, for poor people, for the working class.”
Bam does exactly that by comparing the Agent Orange Administration to the new Neo-Nazi Party, while also sharing his pain for impoverished people of color, including those in the Philippines who suffer on a continual basis.
Press play on the video below, stream or cop Prey For The Devil on Apple Music and check back for dates for Bambu and DJ Phatrick’s West Coast Spring mini-tour.
