Black Thought protegés The Wurxs on Broad Street, Philadelphia

Wait, who’s Bernard? The Wurxs drop their coldest slab of Philly concrete yet and the way Black Thought goes in on this first verse with a lyrical icepick (in his own words “Wild as ethnic Albania”) I assume they are declaring themselves to be rap Bernard Goetzes, murkin kids for looking at them wrong. Then again the hook is pure Philly soul symphony, so maybe they are more on some Bernard Purdie type ish. Madoff? I’m stumped. Dice Raw, Trons and G Moolah all bury their verses as well, but I’m going to have to get back to you with more detailed analysis on those, after I rewind this Thought joint a few more times. A new digital Wurxs EP–2nd Win–is due out March 14th. Meanwhile enjoy this:

UPDATE: thanks to @MatineeWilly for correcting my sports ignorance via the twitters: “Bernard Hopkins? The Executioner? one of Phillys greatest sports living legends? come on okp”
