Audio: Skillz “Yeah…So What” ["Otis" Freestyle]

While we were all busy watching the throne, your man Skillz tweeted out a freestyle over the most talked about beat of the year (and it’s only a week old!), namely “Otis” from Jay-Z & Ye-Z. The only sense in which this is not a clear shot at Jay-Z and Kanye is in the sense that, like all Skillz raps, it is pretty clearly taking shots at everybody…although I notice at one point he restricts his bragging rights to the “best from Virginia.” Hmm. Have to wonder if Skillz had come out over this beat first, whether all the not-fans of “Otis” would be lamenting the desecration of Otis Redding‘s legacy quite as much.

It’s a good beat. I like the original as well as the Skills Version…. I realize Kanye & Jay are very polarizing figures….

After Ether, EVERYBODY that tries to go at Jay, subliminally or overtly, sound like some “I diss Jay for food” shit… It’s tired, B. I mean, really…how many times when going to hear “he’s old”, “he looks like a camel”, “he’s illuminati”…blah blah blah. No substance.

Oh…and did Skillz body the track…nah, right?
