Audio: Shabazz Palaces “Swerve: The Reeping of All…”

More new music from Shabazz Palaces, the mysterious ghetto orientalist rap project helmed by the artist formerly known as Butterfly. This is the single–full title: “Swerve: The Reeping of All That is Worthwhile (Noir Not Withstanding)”–and the one people seem to be excited about (not to mention my personal fav of the joints that have leaked out so far). Sounds more like glitch-hop than jazz, which may throw off anybody expecting Digable Planets 2011. But Ish’s flow is unmistakable and unfading and the two female MCs (collectively TheeSatisfaction) come off as well. And if you squint your ears you can hear the “Swoon Units.” The LP Black Up drops June 28th.
