No days off for DMV producer/emcee Oddisee, he’s planning on dropping his latest album, Rock Creek Park, on September 6th via Mello Music Group (check the OKP review). The LP is said to be: “a 10-track, mostly instrumental project of dusty soul melodies and funk grooves, all of which are supposed to reflect his feelings when traveling through Rock Creek Park.” Today, we get a sample of the album’s vibe with this track “The Carter Barron”… “which is an ode to the Carter Barron Amphitheater located in Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC.  The 4,200 seat outdoor performance venue opened in 1950 in honor of the 150th Anniversary of Washington, DC as the nation’s capital and has hosted performances from Harry Belafonte, Louis Armstrong, the Temptations, Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Smokey Robinson, and numerous others.” Rock Creek Park officially drops on September 6th, but iTunes exclusively will host the album for sale on August 23rd (vinyl drops on 9/27).
