Audio: New Blackstar Untitled Snippet (prod. Madlib)

Aww. Sookie. The mighty Mos Def just posted this 2-minute souncloud of an untitled Blackstar track produced by Madlib via facespace. This clip is just of Mos’ (flawless) verse but we know Talib Kweli is right there in the studio cause you can here him say “right here” on the chorus–just before the snippet cuts off. I am so happy to hear a new Blackstar recording–over a grimy soul-machine Madlib groove, no less–that I can’t even be mad at Fatman Scoop for perpetrating the worst kind of jointus interruptus ie screaming REMIXXXX in my ear and then noisily mouth-breathing a drop right where Kweli should come in. In fact, I could almost hug that Fatman.

A madlib-produced Black Star reunion album would be my dream. I doubt they will stick with one producer, but who better to handle it? Greatest producer alive, in my opinion, and he can produce that classic hip hop sound that is Blackstar. Plus he did about half of Mos’s last album, and he did a full album with Kweli (Liberation) so why not? I can only hope.
