Thizz Entertainment’s fresh prince Mistah F.A.B. has come a long way since his yellow bus days. Featuring Detroit’s Royce Da 59 and Brooklyn’s Talib Kweli, “In My City” is a dramatic turn to ‘conscious’ material for F.A.B., dealing directly with the struggle against oppression in the hood. In his most recent mixtape, I Found My Backpack 2: The Lost Notebook, F.A.B. brings together the gangsta and the community advocate.  Glad to see F.A.B. kept his baydestrian flavor while incorporating social commentary– the beat slaps hard and his lyrics are as clever as ever (reminds me of his down-to-earth, really realistic rhymes from the Hyphy era, especially “Kicked Out The Club” and “Metros and Chirpers.”) Listen and download below.
