Another sneak preview of Meshell Ndegeocello‘s highly anticipated album Weather (dropping November 8th) and this one is even dirtier than “Dirty World”–in a good way. The hypnotically simple bass-and-keys motif builds to “the little death” of the title ( as all philosophy majors know, la petit mort is french for ‘orgasm’) with lines like “let me die / a small death / while you tell me the truth / who’s your daddy now?” The combination of naiveté and melancholy is somehow reminiscent of classic Talking Heads, but David Byrne never talked husky like this.
