Maseo of De La Soul and Mac Miller in the studio

Another fruitful collaboration between Roots Picnic 2012 (De La Soul) and Roots Picnic 2011 (Mac Miller). After turning in the Posdnuos-featuring “Of The Soul” Mac teams up with Maseo on this infectious joint “I Bring The Soul & He Brings The Funk” (stream below). Next up: Mac Miller x Trugoy on “Funk You.” Not really. But with lines like these (“F*ck you. It’s Christmas, though. So come and kiss my ass by the mistletoe.”) I maintain it could work. Even when he’s not collaborating with one Plug or the other Mac Miller still brings the soul. Don’t believe me, check “Thoughts From A Balcony” after the jump.

I still can’t fill this dude (maybe cuz I’m old). His lyrics and flow were on point, but I just can’t get past his pre-pubescent sounding voice.

      I meant “feel”. sorry.

The problem is; he sounds like the rest of these New-Jack bamas (Insert – Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, Wale).

They all of this goofy cadence to their flows. It’s so irritating.

Yeah, I’m 18 and this dudes voice annoys me. Also, the fact that these new-era rappers never make songs with any weight behind them. Braggadocio is fantastic, but having multiple styles to fall back on is legendary.

I see where you guys are coming from, lets face it though, he IS young. Second, the dude is no doubt talented, he’s just getting started. Let’s face it, even Jigga said, “I dumb down for my audience And double my dollars They criticize me for it Yet they all yell “Holla”"
