You already heard DJ Premier going in on a full symphony orchestra (plus Nas on the back-up). Now it is Mark Ronson‘s turn to re-imagine an entire genre in his own image for this documentary/music experiment called Re: Generation. To do justice to jazz, Ronson roped in Erykah Badu, Mos Def (AKA Yasiin, yahmean?) Trombone Shorty and Zigaboo Modeliste AND members of the Dap-Kings for this track “A La Modeliste.” Goddamn that is a track list, a classic case of too many chefs is mo’ better. Per Badu’s hook, your mama will really not be wearing any draws when this New Orleans-inspired jam is through. Listen below and look for Re: Generation to drop in all its filmic glory in February 2012.

This is just tooooooooo much! I knew from the trailer that this would be the best result of the five mashups. It’s too good to stand alone for this movie. It DEMANDS a full album

An entire album with New Orleans jams like these would be insane.
