The “Call of Duty” may come at any time of day or night. In this case, night. Which seems like the appropriate time for Jay Electronica and Mobb Deep to coexist on a track, a time for both Jay Elec’s laudanum visions and Havoc and Prodigy‘s paramilitary maneuvers. Throw in a little Winston Churchill, some diamonds in the sky and what sounds like an off-kilter vocal sample reduced to inhuman bleeps over a fife and drum–and you got a potential classic. Plus he threw in a Steve Jobs eulogy so you would know he just made the mfs up last night. Listen below and concentrate on visualizing a new JE album.

cadence is off – sounds rushed. We needed more from jay Elec after so much time off. Hope his album is more concentrated and poignant.

Agreed! Song is dope for these times in Hip Hop but for all the hype this was rushed and erratic. Back 2 da lab.

      The cadence is off?

Sounds on point to me; but maybe it’s because I’m impatiently waiting for the god to drop an album, that I salivate whenever I hear something new from him.

  • Dam

Damm now that was disappointing after all the hype . . .

ppl find it hard to take an objective look at an artists work. just cuz you cant make his caliber of music doesnt mean you have no right to critique it. it was rushed to say the least. where is the substance that ppl attribute to this song? its not there.it just sounds like there is. he’s held to a higher standard due to the ‘face melter!” coment and the desire to shake nyc up with this long awaited single……… and this song doesnt deliver.its like obama..pacifier

  • Brother Neves

How many of you herbs can drop jewelz like that? Yall rather hear what Ricky rozay or weezy is saying? Guess what? They listen to real lyrisists like this for insight! Peace to the God Jay elect and keep em guessin

The song is solid, the problem is when fans expect EVERY SONG to be a CLASSIC. That’s just not going to happen, you have to accept ART how you get IT. I also predict that Jay Elec will never capture THE BUZZ he had before he was signed. This is because now he’s CONTROLED to a certain extent. EXAMPLE: J. Cole did his thing but personally I prefer his “Friday Night Lights” mixtape over “Cole World”.
