Speaking of producers who rap, Ohio beatsmith J Rawls of Lone Catalysts fame just dropped this cut called “Best Producer on The Mic,” featuring Diamond D (who first made the claim on “The Score“) as well as Oh No and Kev Brown. A fine piece of the old boom-bap that brings back the 90s without sounding contrived or self-consciously retro. It also happens to be the first single off a new LP project called the Hip-Hop Affect, which features a who’s-who of veteran rappers from Count Bass D to Wise Intelligent of Poor Righteous Teachers.
