As predicted, the next wave of Goapele is about to break on our heads like a quiet hurricane. “Play” –the first single from the forthcoming Break of Dawn LP comes in on a panther-growl and sleazy guitar riff that could be The Cars. But instead of breaking into driving rock, Goapele’s voice hovers over finger-snaps and subtle synths, somehow keeping it in the realm of ethereal soul.
