Cody ChestnuTT with trademark army helmet

Okayplayer for life Cody ChestnuTT pulls no punches on this raw acoustic track which is a Trayvon Martin tribute but not the politically correct kind we’ve come to expect in this media age. It’s really more of an angry protest song, lit by a fire we don’t see much in the current generation. Alternating between the opening stanza of “Zimmerman…you’re a murder” and the mantra of “Trayvon, Trayvon” repeated over and over the simple, almost freestyle performance–that ChestnuTT apparently recorded within 24 hours of the Million Hoodie March–still manages to express both the anger and the sense of loss Trayvon Martin’s death has brought to the surface of the national consciousness. It’s no doubt a tragic event and the ‘song’ is relevant and all.. but, really?

This was simple and to the point…I have always like his voice…but man a situation like that occurs more often then not in society…
