A$AP Rocky Sway in the Morning Freestyle
It's a fair bet that A$AP Rocky is having the best week of his life. Not only has his just-dropped second LP At. Long. Last. ASAP. garnered almost universal early acclaim, but the 26 year-old also got to celebrate the national release of DOPE, in which he was cast as a supporting actor. Add to that his upcoming headlining appearance at the 8th annual Roots Picnic (only two days away!) and it clear that the young Rocky has nothing left to prove. This is what "making it" looks like.
But just to make his reign over rap game airtight, A$AP Rocky stopped by the Sway in the Morning program to drop a brand new freestyle over a smooth, kicked-back beat. The MC dipped into the velvety sing-rap that we heard on his most recent single, "LSD" As a performance it's a solid effort--Rocky seems to have no problem firing off unprompted bars but it's clear that sometimes he twists and turns himself into dead ends (check the scramble and eventual save of his lines about selling units). It all climaxes in a lighthearted jab at 50 Cent, and after a breather the fun begins all over again. Watch both of Rocky's freestyles below.
