Apple Confirms Beats Music & Electronics Acquisition

After much speculationApple has officially confirmed its purchase of music peripheral powerhouse Beats Music and Beats Electronics for a whopping $3 billion, making cofounder Dr. Dre the wealthiest man in hip-hop and potentially our culture's very first billionaire. As part of the acquisition, the two architects --the other being Interscope Records cofounder Jimmy Iovine -- behind one of Apple's only competitors in manufacturing will be absorbed by the tech giant, taking on new roles within the world's (now) second most profitable company.

It has yet to be revealed precisely what positions Dre and Iovine will be fulfilling in the company, but you can be sure that just as virtually every other thing the Midas-touch wielding producer hones in on turns to gold, that this will likely not detract. There's been a few hiccups along the way, but it seems that the deal is finally going through, giving way to what might be an overhaul of Apple's product line, outfitting those glossy aluminum laptops, phones and tablets with studio quality audio playback. So say goodbye to the bass-less refrain of laptop speakers and be prepared for the next episode of Apple dominance. Keep it locked, as there's a plenty more to come.
