If you haven't heard us talking about Andy Allo you might still be aware of her via her mentor (his name is Prince). Any artist the mighty Mr. Rogers Nelson is willing to take under his jewel-encrusted wing is worth checking out on association alone, but emerging r&b singer/songwriter Allo continues to display her weight all on her own. Though her sophomore album Superconductor officially dropped back in November, the talented and easy-on-the-eyes Allo manages to impress us with an organic funk sound that evokes her Purple-y influences without sounding tired. Putting out music both as a solo artist and as a part of a legend's touring band (Allo also remains a part of Prince's The New Power Generation) is no easy feat, but Allo manages to do both with deft and grace.
