Just the other day Andy Allo teased us with a 52-second look at her video for “People Pleaser,” building anticipation not only for the full-length video, but also for her first project under Prince, Superconductor. “People Pleaser” is a funky, highly charged, and resolutely empowering song, where Andy Allo–backed by the iconic New Power Generation–declare that they’re not living to please. The full-length video lives up to the song’s energy, with cuts of Andy and the band popping, locking, stankylegging, judo kicking, singing, and laughing all over the place. Those moments of pure fun are juxtaposed with the songstress’ powerful and sultry stare into the camera as she over-mouths the words to her song (I never understood people who can’t lip synch well).
