An Amy Winehouse Biopic Is In The Works

It's already been a massive year forAmy Winehouse fans with the release of the somber Amy documentary. And while many, including this particular writer, were a bit underwhelmed with the tabloid-heavy portrayal of the British soul sensation's life and legacy, her tale appears to be getting fashioned into a new biopic treatment. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Irish writer and director Kristen Sheridan is in talks to be at the helm of the project, which is currently still seeking funding and negotiating with Winehouse's father, who owns and runs the Amy Winehouse estate, for access to music rights. No production schedule (or date for anything for that matter) has been announced as of yet, but word is, Girl In The Dragon Tattoo star Noomi Rapace (who also graced a Flying Lotus-scored short film last year.) Listen, there's really no telling whether this thing will actually see the light of day, but if all of the necessary pieces fall into place, including the blessing from her conniving father and the estate that he manages, then we could be looking at a real and substantial piece of Ray proportions. Here's hoping for the best and that no one gets hurt in the process.
